PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Appearance and color: gray powder. The average particle size is approx. 90-110 nm. Single particles have the average size of 70-150 nanometers and form microagglomerates. The bulk density is about 1-1.2 g/cm3. BET surface area - 15.5 m2/g. Melting point is 640°С. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) shows numerous crystalline defects. The powder reacts with water at 50°С and to release hydrogen. Ignites in air if exposed to open fire. ALEX™ exothermically reacts with oxygen-containing liquids, halogen organics and other oxidizers. ALEX™ is stable in dry air if heated to 80°С. Ignition point is about 300°С. Burning time in a furnace at 900°С (sample mass is 10 g) is 8 s. When ignited by low-calorie heat source ignition time, the burning time is 180 s and ignition time is 0.5 to 2 s. Linear burning rate is 4.39 mm/s. ALEX™ powder can find its application in pyrotechnics and materials sciences.

Material contains metal tungsten (Сu) - 98%; other chemical elements - 2%.If exposed to air, metal content reduce to 85-90% with the balance of adsorbed gases, copper oxide and moisture.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Appearance and color: dark brown-grayish powder. Cu(100) particles are basically spherical, Cu(50) particles look crystalline. The average particle size is approx. 50 - 100 nm. The bulk density is 5 g/cm3. Mechanical impacts(vibrations) may further density the powder. The powder readily oxidizes when exposed to air. The melting point is at 1200°С. BET specific surface area Cu(50) - 12 m2/g and Cu(100) - 6.8 m2/g. The powders readily agglomerate. On being exposed to air, the powder may be ignited by low-calorie flame source (spirit lamp) for 0.5 s. Linear burning rate is 0.48 mm/s, burning front width 7.5 to 8 mm. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

Material: 20-30% of hexane with the balance of iron powder. The powder contains not less 99,8% of metallic iron and absorbed gases CH4, CO2, Ar, N2 . On removing hexane from the suspension, the iron content reduces to 92% with the balance of absorbed gases, iron oxide and moisture. Chemical composition of a source metal wire is as follows: Mn: 0.78-0.82 %; Cr: <0.1 %; Ni: 0.08-0.098 %; Si: 0.66-0.82 %; Cu: 0.081-0.082 %; V: <0.05 %; Mo: <0.01 %; W: <0.1 % mass.

Appearance and color: dark gray to black suspension or paste. Average particle size is 50-110 nm. The particles are spherical and form agglomerates. Bulk density of dry powder is 3.7 g/cm3. BET surface area - 7,7 m2/g. The self-ignition temperature of the suspension vapor in air is 338°С. Boiling point is 69°С. Flash temperature -22°С. Hexane is not soluble in water. On removing hexane from the suspension (evacuation), iron powder may spontaneously ignite in air. XRD shows that powder is fully crystalline iron. On removing hexane, the residue powder may be ignited by low-calirie flame source (spirit lamp) for 0.5 s. Linear burning rate is 2 mm/s, burning fron width 18.0-18.5 mm.

DANGER

The danger is determined by corresponding characteristics of the organic solvent used - hexane. Readily flammable liquid (Сlass 1B and 1C), gives open fire when burning. According to ANSI/NFPA 325 , the identification number of fire risk is 3. According to GOST 19433-88 , the class of danger is 3 , subclass 3.2. The danger criterion is 2 (medium danger). When inhaled, hexane vapors may be health hazard. Maximum allowable concentration in air is 300 mg/m3. Relates to 4 class of danger according to GOST 12.1.007-76 - low danger substances. Appearance and color: gray powder. Average particle size is 80-110 nanometers. The bulk density is about 1.4 g/cm3. Reference temperature of sintering of tin powder ≥30 °C. Tin powder is oxidized when heated to 150°С in dry air. The size of particles in usual conditions is about 10 to 400 nm. In a powder the significant amount of the microagglomerates which have formed as a result of sintering of primary particles is observed. TEM micrographs of powder particles are shown in Fig. Applications: catalysis and materials sciences.

DANGER

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Appearance and color: gray or dark-gray powder. Average particle size is 90-150 nanometers. The bulk density is about 1 g/cm3. Melting point is 420°С. When sonicated in the form of either alcohol or other organic solvent suspension, agglomerates are destructed to nanoparticles. Isolated particles are of irregular shape. BET surface area of dry powder is 5.34 m2/g. The powder reacts with water at boiling point and causes release of hydrogen. Ignites in air if exposed to open fire. Zinc exothermically reacts with oxygen-containing liquids, halogen organics and other oxidizers. Zinc is stable in dry air if heated to 60°С. Ignition point is about 320°С. Zinc powder can find its application in materials sciences and electronics.

HEALTH HAZARD

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

The material contains approx. 60% of copper and 40% of zinc. Adsorbed gases (air, argon, carbon oxide) were not defined. In contact with air the content of active metal decreases to 85-90 %.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Brass powder, dark-brown in color. Average particle size is 50-80 nanometers. Single particles are 70-200 nanometers in size and form microagglomerates. Packed density is approx. 3 g/cm³. Melting temperature in inert atmosphere is 900°С. Can ignite after a short-term contact (up to 30 s) with a low-cal source (e.g. a burning match). Brass powder can be applied in catalysis and materials science.

DANGER

Brass powder is a combustible metallic powder which can give free flame.

HEALTH HAZARD

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

IPC material: aluminum hydroxides AlOOH - 55% wt., Al(OH)3 - 33% wt., alumina А12О3 - 5% wt, metallic aluminum Al - not more 5% wt., absorbed water - about 2%. DTC material: alumina А12О3 - not less than 95% wt, the balance is Al(OH)3.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Appearance and color: white powder of fibrous structure. BET specific area is 350 m2/g. Electrokinetic potential of IPC material extends to -200 mV and this is evidence in favor of electrically charged groups sitting on the surfaces of nanofibers. . The bulk density of IPC material is about 0.7 g/cm3, of DTC material - 0.6 g/cm3. Both materials are highly hygroscopic. To avoid degradation of the material properties, do not expose it to humidity. Being heated to 400-500°С the IPC version is converted to γ-Al2O3 but its fibrous structure is retained in the C, the powder transforms toprocess (DTC version). At higher temperature 1000 α-Al2O3 thus forming coarse cakes. Fibrous structure is not retained. Melting temperature is 2000°С. Both explosion and fire safe. Aluminum oxide-hydroxide powder can find its application in making adsorbents for water purification from both industrial and microbiological contaminations, dental cements and materials sciences as a filler for polymers matrixes.

PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION

IDENTIFICATION LABEL: trade name : SILVER NANOPOWDER; chemical formula: Ag. The nanopowder is produced by the electric explosion of wire method in argon atmosphere and packed in glass ampoules in inert atmosphere.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

Material consists of 99,99% metal silver. Adsorbed gases (CH4, CO2, Ar, N2)- 0,01%.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Grey powder. The average particle size is approx. 100 nm. Single particles have the average size of 70-150 nanometers and form microagglomerates. Bulk density is approx. 5.8 g/cm³. Under mechanical impact (vibration, etc.), bulk density can increase. Specific surface measured by the BET method is 6.5 m2/g. The powder is a fully crystalline silver. When heated in inert atmosphere, silver powder releases excess energy the origin of which is still unknown. The melting point is 960 °С.

DANGER

Silver powder is an odious dust. Produces a harmful effect when in the human body. Neutral to environment, does not require any special precautions.

HEALTH HAZARD

Characterized by low toxicity. Toxic dose is 60 mg. Fatal dose is 1.3-6.2 g.

SAFE HANDLING

Use respirators when handling the powder. Sanitary and hygienic regulations must be observed. In case of skin contamination, wash the skin with soap.
